The "Pony" Quiroz, Mexican second baseman has been negotiated to Boston by Leones of Yucatán
By Fernando Ballesteros
Esteban Quiroz will have the opportunity of his life.
The Pony has been negotiated by the Leones of Yucatan to the Boston Red Sox, who will probably assign him to the minor leagues.
Quiroz, 25 years old, was the figure of Mexico in the 2017 World Classic with a sub-base in Jalisco, as well as being a star in the LMP and LMB.
This year, in 89 games in LMB with Leones, Quiroz hit .293, 11 homers and 49 produced runs. He currently plays with the Venados of Mazatlán.
Native of Ciudad Obregón, Esteban had already been observed this year by the Arizona Diamondbacks, but they didn’t reach an agreement. Quiroz is a countryman from Héctor Velázquez, who this year had a great MLB debut with the Red Sox.
